Two Cubans to Box in Russia on July 4

Alejandro Claro and Yunier Sorsano will bring a double Cuban presence to a boxing event scheduled for July 4 in the Russian city of Samara.

Dedicated to the double World Champion and Olympic medalist Raimkul Malakhbekov, the fight will become a unique duel, featuring three-round fights between a host team and another composed of international guests.

The card, provided to JIT by the president of the Cuban Boxing Federation, Alberto Puig de la Barca, specifies that three Uzbeks, an Azerbaijani, and a Kazakh were also called up to form part of the latter

Claro, world bronze medalist in Tashkent 2023, will fight in the 54 kilograms against Edmond Khudoyan, a 26-year-old and protagonist of 48 successes and 14 setbacks in Olympic format competitions.

Sorsano, national runner-up, will do it in the 71 kilos, determined to beat a man who, on February 28, overcame two-time Olympic champion Roniel Iglesias in a professional fight that left divided criteria.

This is Igor Sviridchenkov, a 24-year-old who has 46 wins and 14 defeats, which is a significant test for the Caribbean fighter amid his proven progression.
