Health centers and homes for children without family support in Havana received donations of medicines and medical supplies through a solidarity project promoted by the Italy-Cuba Friendship Circle “Giordano Pidenzami of Desenzano Mantova.”
The donation, made through the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), consisting of catheters, gloves, syringes, needles, and essential medications, such as painkillers, antibiotics, and antihistamines, both in tablet and injectable form, has been distributed to the Manuel Fajardo Clinical-Surgical University Hospital, the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital, the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, as well as to homes for children without family support.
Julia Durruty Molina, Vice National Coordinator of the CDR, upon presenting the donation, expressed the gratitude of the country’s largest mass organization to the solidarity platforms that contribute to meeting the population’s right to free medical care.
Each donation reaffirms that Cuba is not alone and that it continues to receive the solidarity of its sister nations, as international support is also an example of how ways are being sought to break the iron blockade that the country has faced for more than 60 years, Durruty Molina noted.
Fedrigo Massimo, secretary of the Italy-Cuba Friendship Circle “Giordano Pidenzami of Desenzano Mantova,” reported that this is the fourth consecutive year that the organization has sent humanitarian aid to Cuba, adding that it is a pride to formalize this commitment to the CDRs.
Katherin Mendoza Núñez, head of the Pharmacy Department at the Manuel Fajardo Clinical and Surgical University Hospital, expressed her gratitude for the frequent donations they receive, which facilitate the hospital’s work and improve patient care.
The donations of medicines and supplies come from various sources, including previous donations received from Panama, Spain, Italy, and other organizations, which contribute to strengthening the hospital’s response capacity to meet the most urgent medical needs.
