The decision, taken before the end of a long legislative session, sets Wednesday the 15th as the date for the president’s sister to appear and explain the scandal surrounding the alleged bribery from the billing of medications for people with disabilities, as revealed by former ANDIS director Diego Spagnuolo.
Also involved in this legal case is Drogueria Suizo Argentina SA, which provided the money for the “refunds” payments.
When arguing the proposal, the president of the Health Commission, Pablo Yedlin, explained that “we have tried many times to summon people, request reports, and get answers on various issues, but we have not been successful.”
Karina Milei has also been summoned twice to testify about the mega-scam involving the fake cryptocurrency $Libra, promoted by President Javier Milei in February, which caused hundreds of people to lose millions of dollars in Argentina and the United States, but she, like other executive officials summoned, refused to appear.
Lugones was also summoned to Congress to answer about irregularities in his ministry’s oversight of the operation of the National Agency of Medicines and Food, which led to the tragedy of hundreds of deaths due to the hospital use of contaminated fentanyl. The minister did not attend.
The deputies also approved the appointment of the Constitutional Affairs and Petitions, Powers, and Regulations Committees for next Tuesday to address the motion of censure and interpellation of Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos for failing to implement the current emergency law on disability.
