Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, held a telephone conversation today with the acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez.
According to a message posted on his social media account, the Cuban president reiterated Cuba’s strong condemnation of the US military aggression that occurred on January 3 and the kidnapping of constitutional president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
“I expressed our support and solidarity with the homeland of Bolívar and Chávez, its people, and the Bolivarian government; as well as the decision to continue strengthening the historic relations of brotherhood and cooperation,” Díaz-Canel wrote in his post.
Several reports published by the Cuban News Agency (ACN) and other national media outlets have confirmed Cuba’s official position regarding the criminal aggression against the land of Bolívar, in which 32 Cuban combatants lost their lives, and which reaffirms the historic brotherhood with Venezuela.
