The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America — People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) expressed its satisfaction with the growing number of countries that have recognized the State of Palestine, and valued this gesture as a decisive step towards the two-state solution.
In a statement, the regional bloc stressed that the international recognition of Palestine constitutes “a transcendental step” to guarantee the right of the Palestinian people to have an independent and sovereign state within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
ALBA-TCP described this act not only as a political decision, but as a moral and legal duty indispensable for peace and security in the region and at the international level.
The statement also recalls the need for the international community to move forward with concrete measures that will allow a lasting ceasefire, the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and the protection of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
The Alliance stressed its support for diplomatic initiatives that promote Palestinian self-determination and rejected any action that, in the opinion of the body, would stand in the way of a just and irreversible political solution.
The statement closes with a slogan of support and confidence in the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause: “Palestine will win!” A total of 152 countries have recognized the Palestinian state. During the last few hours, another 12 did so
