The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday reiterated its firm support for Cuba in defending its national sovereignty and security, and called on the United States to heed the voice of justice and the international community.
In response to a question from Prensa Latina, spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China took note of the recent visit by US lawmakers to the island, who opposed Washington’s hostile policy toward the Caribbean nation.
The Foreign Ministry called for an immediate end to all sanctions and the blockade against Cuba, while reiterating Beijing’s willingness to work with the international community in supporting the island.
China has repeatedly stated that it will continue its “support and assistance” in the face of repeated threats from the United States, and condemned Washington’s pressure tactics, which “compromise regional peace and stability.”
Recently, the Chinese ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, denounced the impact of the US blockade and reaffirmed his country’s support in the face of the current intensification of this policy.
The diplomat emphasized that Beijing will continue its support in defending Cuba’s sovereignty and national security, while further strengthening cooperation in key sectors such as energy and food.
Among the ongoing projects, he mentioned connecting solar farms donated by China to the national grid, implementing solar energy systems in isolated homes and community centers, and delivering food aid, including the shipment of thousands of tons of rice.
