Colombians in solidarity will endorse support for Cuba

In a statement to Prensa Latina, the youth coordinator of the Committee of Friends of Cuba in Cali, Sara Palmezano, commented that the New Granada representation will participate with 20 activists who will not only arrive with the previous exercise of a fruitful national meeting, but with the full intention of continuing to strengthen its support for the Island.

“One of the first provisions is to reaffirm the commitment to the project Great World Marathon of Love for Cuba, an initiative of the Continental Network to which the Colombian movement belongs and from which it is encouraged to do more and more for the Antillean nation,”she explained.

She mentioned that the immediate actions are focused on providing non-perishable food, participating actively in solidarity brigades, trying to make agreements with universities and generating productive projects.

She also pointed out that another of the fundamental tasks is to go to the streets “to denounce the infamous blockade and the inclusion in this spurious list of countries sponsors of terrorism”, in reference to the unilateral siege imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years by Washington governments and all the other measures that entrenched it.

Egypt’s former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities said that Cuba embodies the organization’s founding values: international solidarity (as with its medical brigades during the pandemic), cultural openness, and commitment to education and science.

He also appreciated the role of the Caribbean country “a long-standing member state that provides a distinctive voice, rich in culture, biodiversity and experience in the fight against climate change”.

The island nation is at the forefront of climate impact and therefore offers concrete and scalable solutions, such as the Task Life Government Plan, which UNESCO said must support, learn from and replicate.
