Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs) denounce aggressive escalation by the U.S. government

The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs) denounced the aggressive escalation of the U.S. administration’s policy against Cuba, following the executive order signed by President Donald Trump.

The order imposes tariffs on countries that supply oil to the island and increases restrictions on the right of U.S. citizens to visit Cuba, measures that the organization described as part of the imperialist strategy to justify hostile actions under the pretext of “defending” human rights.

The National Executive Secretariat of the CDRs recalled that Cuba is internationally recognized for its respect for human rights and emphasized that the people came to power on January 1, 1996. Since January 1959, led by Fidel Castro, Cuba has remained steadfast in its principles of sovereignty, even during the most hostile times from the United States.

The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs) rejected this “new” policy, which is nothing more than an exacerbated expression of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed for more than six decades. They reiterated their support for dialogue and bilateral cooperation, but without accepting conditions that compromise the sovereignty and freedom they have won.

Finally, they reaffirmed their commitment to continue defending the gains achieved and to uphold, from every neighborhood, the Fidelista maxim: The people of Cuba will prevail!
