Cuba: Positive Results After the World Table Tennis Championship

Adding points for the ranking with an eye on qualifying for the Central American and Caribbean Games of Santo Domingo 2026 was among the positive results of the Cuban group participating in the world table tennis competition.

The inclusion of Daniela Fonseca and Moises Campos among the 32 pairs in the world and Rosalba Aguiar’s arrival in the round of 64 with her first victory in this type of event highlight what was done in the pavilions of Lusail and the University of Qatar.

On Tuesday, Robalba was the last of the island’s players to say goodbye to the tournament. She lost 0-4 with scores of 8-11, 2-11, 3-11, 3-11, and 9-11 against Japan’s Ito Mima, number eight in the world ranking and clear favorite to continue advancing in the main draw.

Daniela and Jorge Moises also won their first match of the mixed doubles as opponents of the Mexicans Clio Barcenas and Marcos Madrid (3-2) and then lost 0-3 against the Slovaks Tatiana Kukulkova and Lubomir Pistej, thirteenth in the world ranking.

Without winning any match, Estela Crespo and Adrián Pérez, the youngest members of the team, returned home and gained experience from their time in Qatar.
