Cuban athletics will begin the so-called summer tour this weekend, when heptathlonist Marys Adela Patterson takes part in the Gotzis Hypomeeting 2025.
According to what the Cuban Athletics Federation confirmed today, on June 6, the debut of triple world medalists Leyanis Perez and Liadamis Povea, who will compete in Rome for the fifth phase of the current Diamond League, is scheduled.
According to the source, the main objective of the summer campaign is the preparation of the youngest athletes for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, scheduled in August, and of the rest for the senior World Championship in Tokyo, in September.
A delegation of five sprinters, including short hurdlers, will take part in a meeting to be organized by Moscow on June 6 and 8, while triple jumper Lazaro Martinez will join Perez and Povea at the Oslo Diamond League stop on June 12.
The calendar, which may increase because responses are expected from other organizers, then announces the international meetings of Troyes-Aube (June 22), Malaga (June 26), Montgeron-Essonne (June 28), Pamplona (July 2), Arcobaleno (July 11), Bionda (July 12-13), and Madrid (July 19).
Subsequently, they will participate in the Zbigniewa Ludwichowskiego Memorial (August 7) and the Guadalajara Meeting (August 9), a Spanish city where athletes and coaches will be based during this period to avoid long journeys.
