CGT leader Laurent Brun, a member of its Confederal Bureau, met with the Cuban ambassador to Paris, Otto Vaillant, to discuss the initial results of the campaign launched by the union in solidarity with the victims of the storm, which struck eastern Cuba in late October with winds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour and torrential rains.
According to the Confederation’s administrator, the campaign has already raised 130,000 euros in just a few days, funds earmarked for the purchase of several tons of food and medicine.
This contribution was made possible thanks to the support of some twenty organizations, including federations and regional committees.
Brun announced at the diplomatic headquarters that the aid will arrive in eastern Cuba by air, specifically through the airports of Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.
