U.S. tennis player Coco Gauff beat Madison Keys 6-7 (6/8), 6-4, 6-1 to qualify for the semifinals of the Roland Garros tournament, the second Grand Slam of the tennis season.
The second favorite to the throne in Paris managed to come back from a first-set loss to finally prevail in almost two hours of play.
Gauff scored an ace on the evening and won nine of the 17 break points she had in her favor, in addition to saving five of the 10 against.
In the semifinals, the 21-year-old American, who is seeking the tenth title of her professional career, will face the winner of the match between Russia’s Mirra Andreeva, ranked seventh in the world, and France’s Lois Boisson.
The other semifinal match at the Roland Garros women’s tournament will feature Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Iga Swiatek of Poland.
This Grand Slam French Open is played on the clay courts of the Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
