The Trump administration has ordered the removal of a 4-year-old girl from Mexico — despite the child’s immediate risk of death if she loses the medical treatment she’s been receiving in the United States.
The girl went to the U.S. with her parents, who also face expulsion and were granted permission to live in the country under humanitarian grounds in 2023.
The girl, identified only by her initials, S.G.V., has been receiving care for her short bowel syndrome at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. One of the girl’s physicians said that if her treatment is interrupted, she could die in a matter of days.
The United States continues with the order that she be deported, effectively signing her death certificate.
