The Palestinian Prisoners Society on Tuesday denounced what it described as an increase in systematic abuses committed by Israeli occupation forces against detained Palestinian women, alongside a rise in arrests across the occupied West Bank.

According to the human rights organization, at least 95 Palestinian women are currently being held in Israeli prisons, including three civilians and four students from Birzeit University who were recently detained.
Drawing on reports from defense lawyers and humanitarian organizations, the group documented what it said is an escalation of violations inside detention facilities. Palestinian women prisoners reportedly face beatings, constant humiliation and systematic mistreatment by Israeli military guards.
The organization stated that detainees are being held under severe overcrowding, with some reportedly forced to sleep on the floor. It also accused prison authorities of imposing solitary confinement measures, carrying out physical assaults and degrading body searches, while denying access to medical care.
The group warned that health conditions inside the prisons continue to deteriorate.
It further alleged that Israeli authorities are implementing a deliberate policy of starvation and medical neglect within detention centers, contributing to the spread of infectious diseases and weakening the physical condition of prisoners.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society said these practices form part of what it described as an organized system of torture directed against incarcerated Palestinians.
According to figures from the Prisoners’ Media Office, more than 680 Palestinian women have been detained by Israeli forces since the beginning of the military offensive on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
Separately, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories also reported that Israeli prisons function as torture camps.
In its report Hell on Earth, the organization stated that physical abuse, hunger and medical negligence constitute the Israeli government’s official policy toward Palestinian prisoners.
