In response to a question from Prensa Latina, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed its opposition to undermining peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“The United States must immediately stop the corresponding actions and prevent the situation from escalating further,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s office stated.
Spokesperson Mao Ning expressed her opposition to any action that threatens the sovereignty and security of countries, in connection with the deployment of US ships in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela.
In a message similar to the one released this Thursday, the spokesperson urged Washington to do more for the good of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Defense Minister General Vladimir Padrino described on Wednesday the US military deployment against Venezuela as a serious threat and called for better and greater coordination of military and popular forces.
Venezuela deployed the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to its coasts as part of the “Independencia 200” plan, which President Nicolas Maduro activated to ensure the country’s defense.
