Women’s leading role in climate action highlighted at COP30

The PT’s official website highlights that on Wednesday, several activists participated in the symbolic opening of the People’s Summit, the largest parallel event to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which began on November 10 and runs until the 21st.

During the day’s panel, PT legislator Jack Rocha, general coordinator of the Women’s Parliamentary Group in the Chamber of Deputies, stated that there is no just climate transition without women.

“In the Chamber, we are only 91 out of 513, but we generate 40 percent of all parliamentary activity. And we are here, with the largest female parliamentary group in history at an international event, to demand our rightful place at the decision-making table,” she affirmed.

For Rocha, the climate crisis is not neutral: it deepens inequalities and affects women and girls, especially the most vulnerable, more severely.

“This is not an inevitable reality, but the result of historical injustices,” she denounced.
