Venezuela-Cuba Friendship Movement pays tribute to Fidel Castro

In a statement to the Cuban Commander-in-Chief, the solidarity organization described him as “universal reference of dignity, justice and resistance”.

“Fidel was not only the architect of a revolution that transformed the lives of millions in Cuba; He was also a beacon of dignity for the peoples of our America and the world who found in their example the certainty that sovereignty and independence are possible conquests when they stand in unity, conscience and solidarity”, he said.

It meant that his thought and action went beyond borders, inspiring struggles against imperialism, exploitation and inequality.

In Venezuela, he said, his legacy lives “in every cooperation project, a medical brigade that has saved lives, in every young person who is trained under the principles of liberating education, and in every community that recognizes the Cuba-Venezuela brotherhood as a transforming force”.

“Today, nine years after its sowing, we reaffirm our commitment to keep his work alive and continue the construction of a better, more just, human and solidarity world,” said the note.

The Movement stressed that Fidel taught us that true friendship among peoples is expressed in the concrete practice of solidarity, and that the struggle for emancipation is inseparable from the defense of life, sovereignty and dignity.
