FC Barcelona debuted with a resounding 5-1 victory against Feyenoord of the Netherlands in their competitive debut in the UEFA Champions League.
In the third minute of play, Brazilian forward Raphinha put Barcelona ahead after a through ball into the box from his teammate Lamine Yamal, which he capitalized on to beat the opposing goalkeeper.
The combination between Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo and German striker Karim Adeyemi resulted in the second goal of the match for the Catalan side in the 22nd minute of the first half.
Raphinha scored again just after the start of the second half to make it 3-0 for Hansi Flick’s men and send the fans at the Camp Nou into a frenzy.
In the 77th minute, FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal scored the fourth goal for his team after taking a free kick from the edge of the box that left the Feyenoord goalkeeper with no chance.
Sem Steijn pulled one back for the visitors in the 82nd minute, while Brazilian Gabriel Jesus completed the rout for the Blaugrana as the game drew to a close.
With the victory, the Barcelona side earned their first three points in this Champions League campaign and maintained their momentum from the start of the season, having now won five consecutive matches.
