Cuban President leads march in Santa Clara in favor of people’s unity

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today led a march for the unity of the people from Ernesto Guevara square to Leoncio Vidal park in Santa Clara.

The Cuban president, candidate for deputy of People’s Power for this city, was accompanied by another 31 candidates for the national Parliament representing the 13 municipalities of the central province of Villa Clara.

Moments before the start of the march, Díaz-Canel and other aspirants to deputies placed a flower at the memorial that keeps the remains of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara and his companions who fell in the Bolivian guerrilla in 1967.

The younger candidates for deputies, Zulia Beatriz and Ariel Aguada, also laid a wreath at the base of the sculpture of the Heroic Guerrilla.

The march, also in repudiation of the United States blockade against Cuba, brought together hundreds of workers and students from the most important productive, welfare and educational centers in this territory.

The support activity for the elections next Sunday will conclude in the Leoncio Vidal Park, with a concert by the musical group Arnaldo y su Talismán.
