The United States government imposed sanctions this Tuesday on five Cuban state entities, three of them linked to the Business Administration Group SA (GAESA) and two related to mining and metallurgy, as well as on a relative of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.
“Today, the State Department is designating five entities and one individual to further the Trump Administration’s comprehensive efforts to end the malign activities of the Cuban regime, both in Cuba and throughout our hemisphere,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio brazenly justified.
Among the designated entities are Rafin, the International Financial Bank, Almacenes Universales, Geominera SA, and the José Martí Steelworks (Antillana de Acero).
“Anyone who provides services to these sanctioned actors risks being sanctioned.” “Foreign banks and other companies that provide services to these entities must freeze those activities immediately,” Rubio threatened on his social media accounts.
