U.S. Senate Democrats Move to Limit Trump’s Iran War for 4th Time

The leader of the Democratic minority in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Schumer, condemned on Monday the U.S. war against Iran as a catastrophic failure and announced that Democrats will force a congressional vote on a war powers resolution to limit President Donald Trump’s military actions for 4th time, arguing that the president illegally dragged the nation into conflict without legislative approval or a coherent strategy.

Schumer, speaking on the Senate floor, rebranded the official US‑Israel operation, code‑named “Epic Fury,” as “Operation Epic Fail,” citing deteriorating conditions since the joint offensive began on February 28.

He pointed to instability in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, rising gas prices, and Iran’s continued resistance along with its nuclear ambitions as clear evidence that the White House lacks an effective plan.

The senator accused Trump of bypassing the Constitution by launching hostilities without consulting Congress or securing authorization for the use of military force. He also held Republican lawmakers accountable for enabling the president, stating that they bear equal responsibility.

The forthcoming war powers resolution, Schumer explained, aims to halt hostilities against Iran and restore to Congress the constitutional authority to declare war. He insisted that the Senate is not a mere spectator and that lawmakers must act to prevent any future president from unilaterally dragging the country into armed conflict without consequences.
