Hezbollah Chief Rejects Direct Talks With Israel, Vows Resistance

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem delivered a defiant address on Monday rejecting any political course that opens direct engagement with Israel, vowing continued resistance against ongoing Israeli‑U.S. aggression.

He argued that a November 2024 agreement had included provisions for halting aggression, releasing prisoners, and allowing reconstruction, but those commitments were never implemented while Zionist attacks continued with external backing.

His remarks come as the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the United States are scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday to discuss holding direct negotiations between the two countries, which the Lebanese resistance groups considers a “grave mistake”. On that matter, Qassem stressed that any attempt to criminalize the resistance or bypass national agreement on such issues represents a dangerous political misstep and lacks legitimacy without broad consensus.

The Hezbollah leader expressed appreciation for regional allies, thanking Iran, Yemen, and Iraq for their support. He also questioned the objectives of Kuwait and Bahrain, who have repeatedly accused Hezbollah of operating on their territories, stating that those allegations have been denied and questioning the political motivation behind continuing to raise such accusations without evidence.

Paying tribute to fighters, civilians, journalists, medical teams, and security personnel who have died, Qassem described them as part of a single national line of sacrifice, emphasizing that Israel targets society as a whole and not only those on the front lines.
