Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated today that Cuba is a peaceful country and poses no threat whatsoever to the United States.
The Cuban foreign minister called absurd the State Department’s argument that the relatively small, developing Caribbean nation, subjected to a brutal economic war, could represent a danger to the world’s greatest military, technological and economic power.
In his message on X, Bruno Rodríguez emphasized that Cuba does not attack others, does not allow its territory to be used against others, and has a clean record against terrorism, international organized crime and violence.
The island’s foreign minister asserted that the U.S. government and its security and defense agencies are well aware of all this, adding that such weak and fallacious arguments fail to fabricate pretexts.
This Tuesday, during a Senate debate, Democrat Tim Kaine acknowledged that, as a member of the Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees, he has never heard the suggestion that Cuba poses an imminent threat to U.S. security.
Along with Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Adam Schiff of California, Kaine, from Virginia, championed a proposal to halt President Donald Trump’s use of military force against Cuba.
In presenting the initiative, which was later rejected by the Senate, Kaine acknowledged that his country is engaged in hostilities with Cuba because it uses U.S. forces, primarily the Coast Guard, to participate in a devastating economic blockade against the nation.
The senator argued that the United States should not be at war with Cuba unless there is a debate and a vote in Congress.
