Iran Declares Total Closure of The Strait of Hormuz

On Thursday, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to the transit of oil tankers and commercial vessels.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned all vessels not to leave their anchorages in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman, stating that approaching the Strait of Hormuz would be considered collaboration with hostile forces.

Iranian authorities also dismissed Washington’s claims regarding the alleged successful passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. The decision to close the Strait of Hormuz came in response to recent U.S. bombings targeting various areas in Hormozgan province.

Earlier, local media reported that several civilians had been injured as a result of U.S. bombings carried out against the town of Korgan, part of the city of Minab. The attacks coincided with reports of three powerful explosions in the areas of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the U.S. attacks on the night of June 11 had “effectively nullified” the ceasefire agreement that took effect in April and the fundamental norms of international law.

“The illegal and criminal attacks perpetrated by the United States in recent hours constitute not only a grave violation of the UN Charter, but also a violation of the right to use its territory and resources to carry out attacks,” Iranian diplomacy said, adding that countries in the region have the legal and moral responsibility to prevent U.S. military operations from being conducted from their territory.

U.S. Forces to Hit Iran Tonight

Meanwhile, President Trump announced that U.S. forces would attack the Persian nation on Thursday night and take control of the country’s oil and gas infrastructure.

“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT,” he said through the social media platform Truth Social.

“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States,” Trump added.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump also mentioned that the bombing would be “bigger, more powerful.” He said taking Kharg Island had been his “preference,” but he was not sure whether the U.S. public had “the appetite” for the major military campaign needed to seize the oil export hub.

“I don’t know that America has the stomach, I think they’d like to see us come home,” Trump said, claiming that Iran is “dying to make a deal” while he personally would “like to get a deal now, less than three or four weeks ago.”
