President Díaz-Canel confirms the status of Cuban collaborators in Venezuela

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, confirmed this Thursday on his social media profile that Cuban collaborators in Venezuela are safe, following the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck the South American nation the previous day.

“In conversation with our ambassador to Venezuela, Jorge Luis Mayo, we confirmed that the collaborators are safe, providing all possible assistance to the Venezuelan people from the very beginning.”

Díaz-Canel added that the situation of all Cubans remaining in the country for any reason is being closely monitored.

“An embrace for our compatriots and for all of Venezuela in this difficult time. We are with you.”

This morning, the head of state expressed his deepest condolences and full solidarity with the Venezuelan government and people following yesterday’s earthquakes, which have resulted in a preliminary death toll of 188 and 1,520 injuries.

The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported that Minister José Angel Portal Miranda established communication with the Cuban Medical Mission in Venezuela.

According to the report, they were able to exchange information with the teams working in the 24 states where Cuban medical personnel are present. These personnel are all safe, and many of them immediately joined the healthcare efforts for the Venezuelan people.

The professionals of the Cuban Medical Mission in Venezuela reaffirmed their commitment to the health and well-being of the population amidst the difficult situation facing the nation.
